In October 2009, The Italian Constitutional Court has censured the «Alfano Law » (2008) which has established the penal immunity of four constitutional authorities : the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and the Presidents of the parliamentary Houses. The Court has found that the Law did not comply with the Basic Law of 1947. Thus, a modification of the Constitution is necessary in order to give to these constitutional authorities a specific penal status.
